A gas grill is basically made up of the tank, the fuel hose and regulator, control valves, venturi tubes, burners and the barriers. The newer tanks have built-in safety regulators to limit the flow of propane to your grill, while the older tanks are nothing more than fuel tanks with a valve. The regulator controls the amount of fuel that flows to your grill. Control valves determine the flow of fuel to the burner while venturi tubes mix the fuel with air to provide flame. Burners are the most visible part of your grill and should be made of quality metal for it to last. The barrier is that which is between the burner and the cooking grate, usually in the form of lava rocks, ceramic briquettes or metal plates.
The question as to whether a certain part can still be repaired or replaced can be answered by experts handling gas grill maintenance. However, there are those that can be readily determined by you such as a broken up barrier, fuel leakage due to damaged hose or heavily corroded burners. As replacing parts is inevitable, choose an equipment which has available replacement parts and accessories.
